Come See the BA Difference!

Bulloch Academy is the only non-parochial independent school in Bulloch County where students may enroll as four-year-old pre-kindergarteners, grow and learn through elementary and middle grades and depart as college-prepared seniors.

The 615-student school houses pre-kindergarten, which is funded by the Georgia Lottery, through 12th grades in three main buildings, the Kindergarten Wing (pre-kindergarten and kindergarten), the Lower School (grades 1-5), and Middle School and Upper School (Grades 6-12).

It’s the goal of Bulloch Academy, which is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Independent Schools and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SAIS/SACS), to provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment in which students from Bulloch and neighboring counties can realize their individual potentials to the fullest during their academic preparation for college and their development of leadership skills and social and moral values.

Bulloch Academy’s uniqueness comes in its small-school environment. Students often feel more like brothers and sisters than just classmates who pass in the hall. Teachers are watchful parents who care about the education, well-being, and safety of “their” kids. Formal and informal interaction between all three-grade major grade levels (lower, middle and upper) happens frequently and is encouraged to foster the school’s family atmosphere.

Academics are the main focus of the school. The kindergarten curriculum is dictated by the developmental progress of young children in such areas as language, mathematics, creative expression, and self-help.

In grades, one through five, the traditional disciplines of language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science are covered in small classroom settings where each child can receive that all-important individual attention. Class time is also devoted to STEAM (computer technology, art, music, physical education and Spanish) and STEM.

In the middle grades, academic classes consist of language arts, social studies, mathematics and science are taught in a 55-minute class period. Computer technology, art, music, physical education, and STEM are also available.

At the high-school level, Bulloch Academy delivers a rigorous curriculum of college-prep and Advanced Placement courses in English, mathematics, science, social studies, and foreign language. Twenty-two Carnegie units are required to graduate with a College Preparatory diploma while 24 units are required to graduate with a College Preparatory with Distinction diploma.

Increased scores in college-entrance exams for high-school students, coupled with high scores on the Comprehensive Testing Program (CTP5) in grades one through eight, show that Bulloch Academy’s faculty and staff are doing their jobs and students are responding.

High academic opportunities, coupled with the friendly, small-school environment, make Bulloch Academy a great place for children to learn and grow.
