About The High School

Congratulations, you’ve made it to high school! As high schoolers, you’re given special privileges and opportunities that you didn’t get in the lower and middle schools. The next four years will fly by, but for now you’ll take classes on the high school hallway of the Upper School building that will prepare you for college and life outside of school.

Curriculum

A top-quality secondary education is being demanded by more and more parents and, at Bulloch Academy, we deliver. A student’s high-school years at BA are full of tremendous growth and rewards, with academic rigor being the focus. Our goal is to prepare students to have as many college choices as they would like their senior year. English, mathematics, science, social studies, and foreign language are the foundations of Bulloch Academy’s high-school curriculum. The semester system is utilized by the school and courses either encompass the full school year (one Carnegie unit) or one-half of the school year (1/2 Carnegie unit). Twenty-three Carnegie units are required to graduate with a college-preparatory diploma.

All high-school teachers are certified by the Professional Standards Commission, have teaching certificates, and either have or are working toward advanced degrees. The school has been accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission since its inception in 1971. In 2001, Bulloch Academy became accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and, in 2006, received dual accreditation by SACS and the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SACS/SAIS).

Beginning in the ninth grade, students are required to take at least one standardized test per year: 9th – PSAT, 10th – Pre ACT, 11th and 12th – SAT and ACT.

Students are also encouraged to take advantage of an enhanced educational experience through dual enrollment at Georgia Southern University, East Georgia State College, and Ogeechee Technical College.
